If you’re in Cebu and you want to eat something special or out of the ordinary, you might try going to 10 Dove St. Sto. Nino Village, Banilad, Cebu City.
10 Dove St. is actually the address, and also the name of a specialty restaurant in Cebu. What makes 10 Dove unique is their menu and food choices, where for 190 pesos, you could have a complete meal comprising of soup, fresh salad, gourmet sandwich or pasta, and a slice of their cake of the day. They also have a nice and homey ambiance, unlike in other restaurants that can get so crowded and noisy.
Inside 10 Dove Restaurant
I first heard of 10 Dove from Cecille, when she compared it to one of our favorite “little” restaurant, Café Arabela in Liliw, Laguna.
And just like in Café Arabela, 10 Dove Restaurant’s main draw in its ambiance. It is just a small restaurant that can accommodate at least 20 persons in a given time. It is a nice place to enjoy one’s company, especially if you want to impress a girl on your first date, or celebrate special occasions like birthdays.
Unlike in conventional restaurants, a combo meal in 10 Dove, is a combination like I said earlier, of soup, salad, gourmet sandwich and cake. Just mix and match what ever type of food you prefer. For starters, some of their soups are based on some classic recipes, while their salad selections can range from green salads to salads with potato or apples. Sandwiches are made either with beef, pork, chicken and fish, while your dessert depends on the cakes on display. Drinks cost around 30-50 pesos. Brewed Coffee is 40 pesos a cup.
I ordered French onion soup, Salad Primavera, Roast Beef Dylan, and a slice of the Fruit Medley cake. Cecille ordered the Creamy Squash soup, Harvest Apple salad, Ranch Roast sandwich, and their decadent chocolate cake named Decadence.
Just to make a quick review of my meal, I was a bit disappointed with my soup, for it has to many croutons, making it hard to taste the sweetness of the caramelized onions, the slice of cheese on top is a life saver for the soup.

I enjoyed the salad the most. It was a gorgeous looking salad, with fresh lettuce, sweet mango, slices of tomato, strips of chicken and a combination of mayo and yogurt for dressing. Nice combination of tastes especially the tanginess of the dressing and the sweet taste of ripe mangoes. The portion was large, enough to feed 2 people.
For my sandwich, I opted to go for another classic, the roast beef sandwich. The sandwich was good, it has lots of cheese, mushrooms, beef and caramelized onions. Guess you have to eat the sandwich immediately after serving, for it tends to get soggy from all the juices of the filling. I took some time taking pictures and paid the price. Lol

I went for the Fruit Medley cake for I know Cecille, being the Queen of everything Chocolate, will go for the Decadence chocolate cake. The serving given to me has some slices of Kiwi fruit on it. The cake has 2 layers, one if made of the classic chiffon cake, while the lower part is composed of some sort of chocolate cake. This cake is really good, same with the chocolate cake of Cecille’s.

Over all, my first experience here at 10 Dove St was good. I have to spend my birthday in a quiet, little place with Cecille as well as having our fill of some good, (and not so) tasting food. And for 190 pesos for the combo plus 30 for root beer, the meal is worth it, heck I might pay 100 bucks or more for the salad alone.

How to go to 10 Dove St. Restaurant?
Going to10 Dove St is a little bit tricky. If you’re in Mandaue Hi-way or in Ayala Center Cebu, take a jeepney bound to Banilad. Ask your driver to drop you in front of the Sto. Nino Village gate, which is a few meters away from Jolibee Banilad branch. Enter the subdivision, walk your way up to the second corner, turn left, walk past a few more houses, after a short curve on the road, and you’ll find yourself in front of the little restaurant. Just take note that 10 Dove has no billboards or signage outside.
I’m no expert food critic or a seasoned food blogger, so I suggest you look for this secret restaurant of Cebu and discover its secrets for your selves.
