Gear and Glam was a fashion event held earlier this month in SM City Cebu. This event showcased some of the top trends in fashion today as well as fancy cars from around the world. Well I might not be into fashion, but I’m really into great looking cars, especially those that are classified as “exotics”.
Thanks to SM Cebu, the cars were still displayed at their North Wing lobby even if the main fashion show has ended a few days back. Cars on display were mostly antique European cars like Porsche, Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo.
But the star of the car show was a Dino!!! Yes, that DINO sports car from Ferrari.
The Dino Ferrari
The Dino was one of the classiest cars ever made.
This car was manufactured by Ferrari, the world renowned Italian car maker famous for their sports cars and expensive rides .
But some experts in the 60’s and 70′ s tagged this one as an “almost a Ferrari” type of car due to its lack of horse power as compared to regular Ferrari cars of that time, but guess they were all wrong. This car has become a classic and is as much as collectible as the Enzo itself.
The Dino was named after Enzo Ferrari’s son. Alfredo, who’s nickname is Dino. Dino was a race driver and an automotive engineer.
Ferrari made the Dino from the years 1968 to 1976. At first, the car did not carry the Ferrari name for it was designed as a low cost sports car. Many experts did not call the Dino a Ferrari or even a super car for it was equipped only with a V6 engine unlike most of its Ferrari counterparts which houses V12 engines.
The Dino does not carry the Ferrari prancing horse logo on its hood.
Back of the Dino Ferrari
If Ferrari cars are more identified with the famous “Ferrari Red” paint job, the more popular color for the Dino was yellow.
The Dino 246 was voted as by the Sports Car International as the number 6 in the “Greatest Ferrari of All Time” list.
This car is really a beauty. Hope to ride this car in the future!!!
